Welcome to the Western Trust Sexual Health (GUM) and HIV Services. We offer a confidential, non-judgemental service that aims to help with all aspects of your sexual health whilst being a welcoming space for those of all genders and sexual identity.
The GUM clinic offers a wide range of services and testing for sexual transmitted infections. If you have no symptoms we can offer a simple ‘check up’ or if you are experiencing genital symptoms such as lumps, bumps, discharge, itchy or discomfort the clinic can provide advice, testing, guidance and treatment.
We offer tests for a wide range for Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) including blood tests for HIV, syphilis and Hepatitis B and C. We also offer HIV tests that you can receive your results here in the clinic within 20 minutes. We offer HIV prevention (PEP and PrEP), vaccination to prevent Hepatitis A and B, HPV and Mpox for those who are eligible.
For those already attending our services, if you require any emergency or ongoing contraception that can often also be provided.
We also offer ongoing care for people living with HIV within the clinic.
If you are unsure if we can help, give the clinic a call and we can advise you further.

Want to know more info about Sexually transmitted infections?
A sexually transmitted infection (STI) can be passed from one person to another through sexual contact, including vaginal, anal and oral sex.
Many people with STIs don’t get symptoms, so it’s worth getting tested even if you feel fine.
Many STIs can be treated with antibiotics. Some, such as HIV, have no cure, but can be treated to prevent them getting worse. The key is to get tested.
For more information on sexually transmitted infections visit NHS Choices.

Want to know more info about PrEP?
PrEP is Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis, a way of taking medication to prevent HIV infection, and is currently available for free in Northern Ireland.
Where to access PrEP

Or book online at www.sxt.health
You can find more information at www.iwantprepnow.co.uk and https://prepster.info/
Who’s eligible for PrEP?
- Gay/bisexual men
- Trans women
- People who are having sex without condoms, with people living with HIV, who are NOT on treatment
There may be other risks that mean that people may benefit from PrEP – if you think this is the case we are happy to talk it through at the sexual health clinic.
Do GPs need to do anything?
No, patients can self-refer to the clinic. This is the easiest and quickest way to access PrEP.
There may be occasions where patients request to see their GP for tests whilst taking PrEP if they cannot attend our clinic. The only required tests would be: a urine dip looking for proteinuria and a renal function test (creatinine/eGFR).
If you would like to know more about PrEP, visit https://prepster.info/ or https://www.iwantprepnow.co.uk/
