HSC NI Adoption & Foster Care is the largest recruitment service for adopters and foster carers in Northern Ireland. It is made up of adoption and fostering teams in the five HSC Trust areas and is responsible for recruiting, assessing, training, and supporting HSC NI adopters and foster carers.
HSC Trusts hold statutory responsibility for all children and young people who are in care in Northern Ireland. They play a central role in safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of these children, working to ensure that every child feels safe, valued, and supported.
Through their work, the service helps to provide safe, stable, and nurturing family environments for children and young people in care, enabling them to optimise their life opportunities.
Adoption is the legal process by which a child or family group of children who cannot be brought up within their birth family become full, permanent and legal members of their new family. Adoption is a life-long commitment.
There is a real need for more adopters across Northern Ireland, particularly for older children, sibling groups and children with complex/additional needs.
