Support and Intervention

Plans are ongoing to develop and improve Health and Social Care services in Northern Ireland for those individuals who have been diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and who require support.

If you have a diagnosis of ASD, you may require support and intervention. This may include:

  • Information and advice for you and your family
  • Referral for support services e.g. voluntary organisations
  • Individual or group intervention- interventions are informed by the assessment process and will be tailored were possible to meet a person’s needs
  • Carers Support and Needs Assessment

Some adults with ASD are already involved with other health services and voluntary organisations and they can continue to receive support from these services as appropriate.

Additional advice and guidance through consultation is available for professionals in these services regarding how best to support a client who has ASD.
