Short breaks are available through a range of options. They are offered to families on a planned basis utilising the resources available at the Respite Cottages in Shepherds Way in Derry City and Beltany House in Omagh.
Direct payments are also made to families for short breaks when this is deemed necessary or appropriate based on assessed need. Other residential and nursing facilities are also used on occasions to provide emergency breaks to enable our response to crisis in the community.
Families also benefit from short breaks such as access to befriending and sitting services. Some short breaks will also be provided through the Host Care scheme (see Shared Lives Short Term Adult Placement Scheme below).
