What does the Asha Unit do?
Asha is a 8-bedded inpatient detox facility situated within the Tyrone and Fermanagh Hospital site. Asha accept referrals directly from regional Community Addiction Teams. Service-users are admitted usually with the goal of detoxing and stabilising from various harmful substances such as alcohol, illicit substances, prescribed substances, or a combination of multiple substances. The Asha programme offers a 1-4 week inpatient stay, where service-users will participate in a psychoeducational and psychotherapeutic programme. We work closely with other statutory and non-statutory agencies in order to advocate for our service-users and provide the best experience possible during your stay, and also post-discharge. During your stay in Asha, you will participate in group therapy and 1:1 therapy. Group therapies include; SMART Recovery, CBT-informed groups, DBT-informed groups, Relapse Prevention, WRAP, Motivational Interviewing, Art Therapy, meditation/mindfulness and gentle exercise.
What kind of staff work in the Asha Unit?
Asha is staffed by a multidisciplinary team of professionals. Service-users are allocated a ‘named nurse’ upon admission. Service users will also have input from a variety of professionals, including; mental health nurses, psychiatrists, junior doctors, psychologists, senior social workers, health care assistants as well as support staff.

How do patients access the Asha Unit? (the referral process)
Service-users can access the Asha Centre via referral from their Community Addiction Team Keyworker.
When is the Asha Unit available?
The Asha Centre is closed to the general public in order to assure the privacy of our service-users.
However, the Asha Centre is open 24/7 for our current inpatients.
