Day Care Facilities and Opportunities

 

Day Care and Day Opportunities services are provided through a range of regulated and non-regulated Trust and Independent/Voluntary sector services designed to promote choice and independence for adults with learning disabilities. Traditional type day care to meet the needs of those service users with complex health care needs and/or challenging behaviours or those who are older, is largely delivered creatively through our day centres and satellite units.

Within day opportunities a wider range of provision is being encouraged to meet the assessed needs and enhance the potential of younger people transitioning from children’s services. This also includes those currently in day care settings. Day opportunities offer creative work based placements e.g. such as social farming and /or for those whose needs can be best met through accessing a mixed package of care provided within community placements.

  The Benbradagh Centre provides a needs led service which offers people with learning disabilities the opportunity to achieve their wishes, aspirations and ambitions.  The Centre offers 56 places and helps develop employment, education and personal/intensive support to service users.

  The Willow Group is a regulated satellite facility offering 26 places of day care services to older adults with learning disabilities.   The Evergreen Centre offers 40 places to older adults with learning disabilities and has an Intensive Support Group.

  The Learning Disability Psychological Therapies Service incorporates Clinical Psychology, Behaviour Support and Intensive Support.  This service provides a holistic therapeutic service which is person-centred incorporating psychological assessments and interventions specific to client need. The service aims to enhance the psychological well-being of our individual service users across all sectors of the programme. We also aim to increase psychological mindedness among families, carers and professionals as we support all those who work with us to optimise quality of life for individuals with a learning disability within our Trust.

  Ralphs close is a regulated facility offering 16 residential beds for long term care and support to adults with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour.
  The facility offers 24 hour support and care based on each individual’s needs and abilities.
  The residents of Ralphs Close play an active part in the running of each bungalow promoting well-being, mentally, physically, socially and emotionally. Residents will also benefit from participation in a range of activities both home and community based through new experiences and learning opportunities.

  The unit provides a short break services for clients with varying degrees of learning disability.  The facility covers Londonderry, Limavady and Strabane and facilitates clients who normally live at home full time with a carer. The unit provides a home from home environment and the clients are supported to enjoy the break. They are facilitated to plan and participate in activities of their choosing.

  Beltany House is a 3 bed residential short breaks facility situated on the outskirts of Omagh.  The unit offers families and carers of adults with a learning disability the opportunity to experience a short  break as their relative with learning disability is cared for  in a homely and safe environment.  Beltany House also provides a day care sitting service on a daily basis.
