Geraldine McKay

Director of Unscheduled Care, Medicine, Cancer and Clinical Services

Geraldine is married to Brian and has four children and lives in Magherafelt but is originally from Newtownstewart, Co Tyrone and has worked in the Health Service for over 30 years. Geraldine has worked in a variety of nursing and senior management posts before being appointed as Assistant Director for Surgery and Anaesthetics with the Western Trust in 2011.

Acute services are provided to the local population from three sites, at Altnagelvin Area Hospital, the Omagh Hospital and Primary Care Centre and South West Acute Hospital, with outreach to community settings to ensure local access to services where possible. Services are provided across three divisions:

  • Emergency Care and Medicine Division
  • Surgery and Anaesthetics Division
  • Diagnostic, Cancer and Clinical Support Division.

These divisions are supported by Pharmacy Services and Hospital Sterilisation and Disinfection Unit (HSDU). This structure supports the integration of Acute Services within one whole system of Health and Social Care.
