On behalf of N.H.S. Blood and Transplant, the Western Trust is delighted to present an Exceptional Partnership Award to the Mark Patterson Show on BBC Radio Foyle.
Declan Grace, Consultant in Anaesthesia and Critical Care Medicine on behalf of the Organ Donation Committee of Western Trust said:
“Throughout the past ten years The Mark Patterson Radio Show and BBC Radio Foyle have given great support to the Western Trust’s efforts to promote organ and tissue donation. Each year the show has featured all Trust initiatives promoting donation and the show’s host, Mark Patterson, has conducted multiple, informed and inspirational interviews with our Lead Clinician for Organ Donation, our Specialist Nurses for Organ Donation and critically with transplant recipients, live donors and family members of deceased organ donors. This has enabled the Western Trust to maintain the profile of organ donation prominently within our community.
Dr Grace continued:
“This support has also undoubtedly contributed significantly to 49% of our local adult population having registered as potential organ and tissue donors and to enabling the Trust to secure multiple donations that have resulted in multiple live-saving transplants. Mark and his team operate an ‘open door’ to our promotional efforts and we are extremely grateful to him, his team and Radio Foyle for their on-going and unstinting support. Thank you!”
