A huge congratulations to our very own Adrian Donnelly, Service Manager for Specialist Services Mental Health and Marie Donnelly, Marie Curie Palliative Care Trainee ANP who joined Jason Black Mountaineering Team in November 2024 to climb Kilimanjaro at an altitude of 5895m. This was an opportunity of a lifetime to not only experience high altitude climbing but the culture of Tanzania.
This amazing experience brought the opportunity to fundraise, with an incredible £4,462 raised for the Western Trust Palliative Care Fund.
Whilst Marie and Adrian were climbing Kilimanjaro, colleague Laura McAleer; Community Respiratory Nurse Specialist organised a fundraising step challenge for the various teams within Omagh Hospital and Primary Care Complex. Competition was fierce, but the Dental Team pipped it winning a breakfast in the River Cafe Omagh Hospital. Adrian and Marie wish to thank all the support from Laura and Omagh Hospital colleagues to help in their fundraising efforts.
They said:
“In addition, we would also like to thank all or friends and families who kindly donated to our Just Giving Page and for their support throughout this opportunity. Their generosity was incredible and to colleagues Gemma Murphy Palliative Care clinical Nurse Specialist in Altnagelvin Hospital and Grainne Farren Diabetic Nurse Specialist who did the high altitude climb with us.”
