Western Trust Celebrates One Year of Digital Transformation with encompass

Friday 8 May 2026 marks a significant milestone for the Western Trust, as it celebrates one year since the successful Go-Live of encompass, the new digital patient record system.

The Western Trust and Southern Trust went live simultaneously on 8 May 2025, completing the digital transformation of health and social care records across all Trusts in Northern Ireland.

Reflecting on the first year of encompass, Teresa Molloy, Director of Planning, Performance and Corporate Services and Senior Responsible Officer for encompass said:

“The transition to digital patient records has significantly enhanced our delivery of care, enabling improved safety and more efficient access to information for both patients and staff. The advantages were evident from the outset.

Teresa continued:

“Reflecting on our progress, the accomplishments achieved through collective effort are notable. encompass has been an ongoing process, and the scope and importance of the work undertaken to reach this stage should not be underestimated.”
