Interim Director of Human Resources and Organisational Development
Riona has over 20 years of experience in Human Resources within Health & Social Care in Northern Ireland. After earning a MSc in Occupational Psychology and a Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management, she began her career in 2005 through the HR Graduate Management Scheme, initially working in the former Sperrin Lakeland Trust.
Throughout her tenure, Riona has continued to serve within the Western Trust, taking on and leading diverse HR specialisms. Her leadership experience includes five years as Head of Service for Employee Relations, followed by her appointment as Assistant Director of Organisation & Workforce Development in 2021.
Subsequently, she assumed the position of Interim Director of HR & OD in 2026. In addition to these roles, Riona serves as an executive coach and demonstrates a genuine passion for cultivating a positive organisational culture. As a mum to 3 teenage boys Riona is an advocate for flexible working and strives to create an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and empowered.
