Communications Department

When did you start the HSC?

1991

Why did you choose to work in the HSC?

I started working as a Clerical Officer in the Estates Department on 13 December 1991 on a temporary six month contract and I have been working in various departments across the T&F Hospital site every since!

Describe what you do?

I have been working as a Communications Assistant in the Corporate Communications Team for the past 15 years supporting the Communications Manager (External) in relation to press enquiries, good news stories (press releases) for external/digital media channels. I work as part of a small, dynamic team who provide support, guidance and expertise in relation to communicating with our staff, patients, service users and wider public we serve in the Western Trust. I cover events, launches, photocalls and media interviews/filming opportunities across the Trust which is a great opportunity to meet and connect with our staff.

I also am a health champion and run leader and enjoy sharing my passion for running to promote the social, physical and mental health benefits of physical activity with my peers!

What do you enjoy most about your role?

I am a people person and enjoy talking to and meeting healthcare staff and giving them the opportunity to highlight the work they do for the benefit of their patients, clients and service users. I love to hear about the many incredible achievements, innovations by our staff across the WT geography and how they have made a positive impact on the lives of people who require care and treatment in our hospitals, community facilities and their own homes. This really is my passion and I hope to continue to connect with as many people as possible and showcase how the WT is A Good Place to Work and Live!
