Geraldine McAleer

Interim Director of Human Resources and Organisational Development

Geraldine has more than 25 years’ experience in Human Resources within Health and Social Care in Northern Ireland. She graduated from Queen’s University Belfast with a degree in Economics and European Communities Studies and subsequently completed a Master of Social Science (MSSc) in Organisation and Management. She also holds a Postgraduate Diploma from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) and is a Chartered Member of the Institute.

Geraldine began her career in health in the former South and East Belfast Health and Social Services Trust. Following a period working with Belfast City Council and time living in Australia, she returned to the health service and joined the former Causeway Health and Social Services Trust. Following the implementation of the Review of Public Administration (RPA), she transferred to the Northern Health and Social Care Trust before joining the Western Health and Social Care Trust in 2019.

Throughout her career, Geraldine has worked across a broad range of HR functions and has held senior leadership roles in Recruitment, Medical Human Resources, Terms and Conditions, Attendance Management, and HR Business Partnering. She was appointed Assistant Director for Employee Resourcing in October 2020, leading a range of strategic workforce and recruitment initiatives across the Trust.

In August 2026, Geraldine assumed the role of Interim Director of Human Resources and Organisational Development, providing strategic leadership for the Trust’s workforce, people, and organisational development agenda.

Outside of work, Geraldine is married and is the proud mother to a young adult son and teenage daughter.
