Why did you choose to work in the HSC?
I actually came in as agency staff as a clerical officer to cover for 4 weeks in Podiatry, Woodview in February 2007, then I was offered a temporary contract with the Trust in May 2007, I was temporary for 4 years before I got a permanent post in Child Health in Bridgeview! I am currently employed as the Appliance Officer in Altnagelvin and I have been here 5 and a half years!
Describe what you do?
I am currently the Appliance Officer in Altnagelvin, and I provide clerical & admin support for the Orthotists who have clinics in Roe Valley and Altnagelvin, my role includes preparing clinics, ordering goods for patients, receipting appliances and goods into the office and updating PAS so the booking team know when to appoint. I also place prosthesis orders for the Breast Care Nurses, and hairpieces for dermatology and oncology patients.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
I enjoy all aspects of my role as it’s quite varied, and every day is different!
