Why did you choose to work in the HSC?

I have worked as a nurse, midwife and health visitor prior to taking up my present role. All these jobs have given me an opportunity to develop relationships with families. These relationships have enabled me to support and empower them to make informed choices with regard their health and wellbeing.

Describe what you do?

Take the lead in implementing the baby friendly standards for health visiting with the Northern part of the trust. This involves supporting families manage breastfeeding challenges, training and support of staff and working with voluntary and community organisations. Development and updating of policies to support successful breastfeeding.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

Observing the development of a mothers confidence and self belief in her ability to nurture her baby and meet their nutritional needs
