We are celebrating the graduation of three staff members who completed the prestigious Scottish Improvement Leadership (ScIL) programme at a ceremony in Belfast on 23 October 2026.

Speaking about the Scottish Improvement Leadership Programme participant Joyce McKittrick, Lead Nurse Health Visiting at the Western Trust explains:

“ScIL is a leadership and quality improvement programme that develops participants’ ability to lead change, drive improvement and use evidence-based approaches to enhance services.  Through dedication, commitment and the successful completion of a workplace improvement project, we have strengthened our leadership capability and contributed to building a culture of continuous improvement within the Western Trust.

“We would like to thank our nominators Lorraine McAdams, (QI team), Sinead Doyle (Head of Service Stroke Services) and Nicola McLaughlin (Interim Head of Service Dementia Service) for the opportunity to participate in this rewarding course.”

Hilary Campbell Head of Service Public Health at the Western Trust said:

“I was very honoured to be invited to attend the Scottish Improvement Leadership(SclL) programme graduation ceremony on Friday 23rd October 2026.

“I would like to extend my sincere congratulations to Nicola Hayes, Ann Marie McIlmoyle and Joyce McKittrick who have successfully completed their Scottish Improvement Leader (ScIL) programme. They celebrated with their cohort colleagues at their graduation in Belfast last week.

“Their commitment to learning, personal development and leadership has been evident throughout the programme. Completing ScIL requires dedication, resilience and a willingness to embrace new challenges, and they have demonstrated these qualities admirably. Their achievement is a testament to their hard work and will undoubtedly enhance the positive impact they have within our service and for the populations we serve.

“Their leadership skills in quality improvement within the Trust will benefit not only their clients and patients but also the staff they will support and lead in the future. Congratulations ladies on your amazing achievement and I wish you continued success.”
