Sod Cutting Lisnaskea Health Centre

Health Minister Mike Nesbitt has cut the first sod of the new £32.4M state-of-the-art Lisnaskea Health Centre.

The new health and care centre will replace the existing Lisnaskea Health Centre, Drumhaw Day Care, and leased facilities, providing a range of services from one location. This will include GP, Trust Community Care (Allied Health Professionals, Midwifery, Health Visiting, District Nursing, Dental and Mental Health services) and older people’s day care.

The construction contract was signed with Lowry Building & Civil Engineering in late 2024 and work on the site commenced in early January 2025.

Speaking as he cut the first sod at the site on Thursday (30 January 2025), Health Minister Nesbitt said:

“I am delighted to have been able to come to Fermanagh today. This significant investment of over £32m will create an integrated primary and community care hub in Lisnaskea, offering vital GP and Trust services to the local community and will enhance access to multidisciplinary services such as physiotherapy, mental health care, and support for older people. As Health Minister I remain committed to investing in primary and community care infrastructure to support the transformation of health and social care and help deliver better outcomes for the population of Northern Ireland.”

Western Trust Chief Executive Neil Guckian said:

“The Western Trust is delighted that this milestone has been reached. The new Health and Care Centre will provide a range of accessible and integrated services to improve the health and wellbeing of 30,000 patients and service users in the South East Fermanagh community.

“The new build, which is due to complete in late 2026, will provide staff and patients with excellent facilities and will expand the range of services available to the local community.

“This significant sod cutting has been achieved through the collaborative working of GP representatives, Trust staff and Department of Health personnel with a focus on meeting the needs of patients and clients of Lisnaskea and the wider area and I would like to extend my thanks to everyone involved.”
