Primary Care Liaison Service

What does the Primary Care Liaison Service do?

The Primary Care Liaison Service works with patients aged between 18 to 65 who have moderate to severe mental health difficulties (for example, depression, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and psychosis. The aim of the Primary Care Liaison Service (or PCLS) is to provide clients with a comprehensive mental health assessment and, depending on the individual’s specific mental health needs, a variety of therapeutic interventions. Following assessment we may offer a short term intervention with our service or refer you to another service best placed to meet your needs. We also give advice back to your GP practice

Primary Care Liaison teams are multi-disciplinary and consist of medical staff, mental health nurses and social workers, occupational therapists, and administrative staff.

How do patients access the Primary Care Liaison Service?

Referrals to the Primary Care Liaison Service are completed by the General Practitioner (GP) practice.  Referrals may be completed by other professionals within the GP practice including a mental health practitioner or Advanced Nurse Practitioner

When is the Primary Care Liaison Service available?

The Primary Care Liaison Service operates on a Monday – Friday basis, 9:00AM – 5:00PM
