Our Service
Family Work at Day Centres includes:
Parenting Capacity Assessments – This work can involve Case Planning, Child Protection Processes, Looked after Children and Court Work.
Parenting Programme – This service aims to support and enable carers to manage their children in difficult circumstances. This service is available on an individual basis and can incorporate mediation work.
Personal Development Group – This group is aimed at parents whose children attend the Day Centre. The group aims to promote self esteem and personal development. This group uses a range of approaches – relaxation, stress management, aromatherapy and promotes positive parenting.
Assessment Work – Assessment work is also carried out at the Day Centre aimed at improving the quality of contact.
Family Group Conferencing – Some staff members are trained facilitators in Family Group Conferencing. This model enables families to develop their own solutions to family difficulties. Click here for more information.
Crèche (1-2 yrs)
This allows children to:
- Play in a safe structured environment
- Encourages children to meet their developmental milestones.
- Can inform situations where ongoing monitoring or assessment is required.
- Can support & advise parents in the care of their child.
Toddlers Group (2-3 yrs)
This group allows children:
- Play in a safe structured environment
- Encourages children to meet their developmental milestones.
- Can inform situations where ongoing monitoring or assessment is required.
The group:
- Can support & advise parents in the care of their child.
- Can offer the opportunity for Individual work if appropriate, for social interaction.
- Provides a nurturing, therapeutic environment that can be of benefit to children who are experiencing difficulties in their lives.
- Can offer both child and parent respite from difficult situations
Special Needs Group
This group operates sessions for Pre-school children assessed as having some additional needs. The group aims to:
- To provide care and stimulation for pre school children with disabilities and development delay
- To provide respite parents , assist and support them in their caring task.
- To work in partnership with other Professionals and families to promote child’s development.
- To offer parents the chance to meet together from time to time to share information and for mutual support.
- To offer opportunity for individual work as appropriate
- Can inform situations where ongoing monitoring and assessment is needed.
- To Provide a nurturing, therapeutic environment that can be of benefit to children
After Schools Groups (4-11yrs)
There is provision for two After Schools groups, one aimed at Primary 1-2, and the other for Primary 3-7 year olds. Children generally participate in one or two sessions per week.
The aim of the Group is:
- To provide a safe structured environment that allows school age children the opportunity to play and develop appropriate social skills.
- Can inform situations where on going monitoring or assessment is required.
- Can offer the opportunity for Individual or Small Group Work to meet child’s identified needs.
- Provides a nurturing environment that can be of benefit to children experiencing difficulties in their lives.
- Provide support to parents/carers in the care of their child.
- Offer parent and child respite from difficult situations.
- Encourages children to maximise their potential.
