We were delighted to celebrate our nursing support workers across the Western Trust at a special conference held on Friday 1st December to acknowledge and pay tribute to our dedicated and compassionate staff working in hospital and community facilities throughout the Western Trust geography.
Dennis Greer, Senior Nursing Assistant with the Rapid Response Nursing Team at Omagh Hospital and Primary Care Complex and UK Representative for Nursing Support Worker’s on the Royal College of Nursing (RCN’s) Trade Union Committee who chaired the Nursing and Support Worker Conference at the South West Acute Hospital today said:
“Today is a wonderful opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the essential and valuable roles of the nursing support workers within our services and I wish to warmly welcome everyone who took time out of their busy schedules to attend this event it if very much appreciated. I wish to add a special thank you to our key speaker Chair of the Nursing Support Workers Committee, and Royal College of Nursing (RCN) Council member Kevin Morley; speakers from across the nursing and allied health profession along with and my nursing colleagues Mairead McClintock, Diabetes Specialist Nurse; Sr Valerie Topping; Anna Marie Maguire, Deputy Sister Ward 6 and Andrea Regan, Patient Flo Coordinator at the South West Acute Hospital for their hard work and support in organising this special conference.”
“Our nursing support workers are an important part of the Nursing Teams across the Western Trust and given their roles and close contact with patient and clients, they play a key role in the provision of high quality care, ensuring that our patients and clients have a positive experience in our hospitals and community care settings.”
“The theme this year is ‘Shine a Light’ which showcases the varied and vital roles of nursing support workers from across all of our services including Nursing Assistants and Senior Nursing Assistants from Acute, Community, Older People’s Services, Mental Health, Learning Disability, Physical Disability and Children’s Services. It also acknowledges that many of these staff go on to complete pre-registration nurse education or professional social work qualifications and are an integral part of the health and social care system. This is an opportunity for us to recognise the often unsung heroes for their hard work, dedication and commitment and the high standard of care they provide to patients and clients. Thank you for everything you do and for your continued support to nursing colleagues.”
