Our highly innovative Our Hearts Our Minds (OHOM) programme has cemented its place as a leader in virtual cardiovascular health after having an impressive nine posters selected for presentation at the recent British Association for Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation annual scientific conference held in Belfast last week.

In addition, Jenny Brown, OHOM Cardiovascular Nurse Specialist at Altnagelvin Area Hospital, Londonderry was awarded the prize for best Poster Presentation from over 60 entries across the UK.  Jenny’s work outlined the OHOM approach to optimising cardiovascular patient’s cholesterol levels virtually during the Covid-19 pandemic as well how the team implemented achieving the new lower European Society Cardiology target for LDL- cholesterol.

The OHOM programme for Cardiovascular health, which is funded as part of the Department of Health’s Transformation agenda  supports  patients living with cardiovascular disease or at risk of developing same and has won many plaudits for its innovate use of remote and interactive technologies.

Dr Susan Connolly, Lead Clinician for the programme commented:
