Nutrition
This A5 leaflet was originally produced as an insert in magazines available to the public during the time of the ‘100 Calories’ campaign. It shows examples of common foods that contain 100 calories to illustrate how a ‘little extra’ 100 calories a day could add up to a 10lb weight gain over a year.

The PDF of this leaflet has been updated following the publication of a review of the evidence on vitamin D and health by the Scientific Advisory Committee on Nutrition (SACN). It highlights the importance of vitamin D supplements for particular groups, including babies, children aged between 1 and 4 years, people whose exposure to sunlight is limited, and those with darker skins (e.g. those of African, African-Caribbean and South Asian origin). It also outlines new recommendations that all adults and children aged 5 and over should consider taking vitamin D supplements during the autumn and winter months (October to late March/April).

This booklet has been developed for adults with learning disabilities to encourage them to walk more. Using simply illustrated text, it outlines the benefits of walking for everyone and encourages participants to track their daily steps in order to build up to over 10,000 a day.
This A5 booklet encourages people to increase their level of physical activity by monitoring the number of steps they take each day and aiming to increase it. It covers why walking is a good way to get more active, how to count your steps, setting targets, tips on how to fit more walking into your day and ideas for making it more interesting, including by taking part in an individual or group Step Challenge.

This leaflet contains information on what you can say and do to help someone who may be thinking of suicide. It highlights the warning signs, explains the feelings a suicidal person can have and provides a step-by-step guide to having a conversation and helping someone you’re worried about. Cancer
CERVICAL SCREENING: YOUR RESULTS EXPLAINED
Leaflet explains the results of the cervical screening test which is designed to pick up any changes in cells on the cervix (lower part of the womb) so they can be easily and effectively monitored or treated.
This leaflet warns against the dangers of using sunbeds, most notably skin cancer, and offers advice on the Health and Safety Guidelines that sunbed operators should abide by.

This leaflet incorporates the current advice on low risk drinking from the four UK Chief Medical Officers, published in January 2016. It lists the long and short-term effects of drinking too much alcohol and outlines the recommended limits for low risk drinking, as well as providing tips on how to stick to these limits. The leaflet also offers a guide to how many units of alcohol are in common drinks.
You, your child and alcohol is a booklet that offers parents advice and guidance on how to discuss alcohol with their child and encourages them to think about how their relationship with alcohol can influence their children.

This leaflet encourages people to take health professional advice on the use of antibiotics. It is distributed to participating pharmacies as part of the Living Well campaign, which covers up to six health promotion topics each year. Living Well campaign topics are agreed between the HSCB, Community Pharmacies NI and the PHA.

The F.A.S.T materials (poster/leaflet/wallet card) convey the signs and symptoms of stroke, and the call to action, that it’s a medical emergency to call 999 immediately if you see any one of these signs. A fast response to the signs and symptoms of stroke can reduce the long term health consequences such as disability and death.
