Fermanagh Carers Walking Group 10 Years

The Fermanagh Carers Walking group are celebrating their 10th anniversary. The group commenced in September 2013 as a pilot for six weeks and they have been walking ever since!

The group met this week at Enniskillen Castle for a walk followed by a celebration picnic. Anne Donnelly former carer performed a song she had written a song about the walking group to celebrate the 10th anniversary. Current Carers were joined by former members of the walking group for the celebration.

Cathy Magowan, Western Trust Carers Coordinator said:

“The benefits of the walking group, is not only the physical activity which is great for our physical and emotional health, but the peer support carer’s gain from talking to someone navigating a similar journey is immeasurable. A member of the Carers Support Team attends regularly to support the group and speak with individuals who require additional support. The group meets weekly on a Friday morning, it is free to attend and members pay for their own cuppa. The walk is suitable for all abilities.”

The group meet weekly at a pre-arranged venue in the Enniskillen area for a walk followed by a cuppa in a local café.
