Cardiac Rehabilitation is described as:
“The coordinated sum of activities required to influence favourably the underlying cause of cardiovascular disease, as well as to provide the best possible physical, mental and social conditions, so that patients may, by their own efforts, preserve or resume optimal functioning in their community and, through improved health behaviour, slow or reverse progression of disease.”
Our Commitment to You
As a patient attending the Cardiac Rehabilitation Service, staff with whom you come into contact will:
- Treat you with care, sensitivity, respect, dignity, compassion and empathy.
- Be committed to excellence by delivering an individualised programme of care.
- Continuously improve our service by delivering standardised, high-quality, safe and effective care in line with British Association for Cardiovascular Prevention and
Rehabilitation (BACPR) guidelines. - Provide timely treatment and care.
- Contact you within five working days of referral to review your progress and discuss enrolment on the programme.
- Implement a care pathway within ten working days of referral that meets your individual needs and preferences.
- Seek feedback through patient surveys and Care Opinion and use this feedback to improve services.
- Develop innovative ways of working and support networks to help patients achieve the best possible outcomes.
What We Ask of You
To help you gain the greatest benefit from Cardiac Rehabilitation, we ask that you:
- Fully engage with and commit to the programme.
- Attend appointments on time.
- Contact the department if you cannot attend or need to rearrange an appointment.
- Treat staff with respect.
About Cardiac Rehabilitation
The British Association for Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation (BACPR) defines cardiac rehabilitation as a coordinated programme of activities designed to support cardiovascular disease prevention, recovery and long-term health improvement.
