Community Addictions Team (Northern Sector)

Meet our Alcohol and Drug Service Team who cover Derry/ Londonderry, Strabane and Limavady. The team, who are led by Alcohol and Drug Service Manager Grainne McLaughlin, are based at Woodlea House on the Gransha site, with satellite clinics in various other locations.

We accept referrals from a range of statutory services including Altnagelvin hospital, mental health teams, social services, probation and prison. We also accept referrals from a range of non-statutory tier 2 addiction services including Housing First DePaul, ASCERT and First housing.

The Multi-Disciplinary team is made up of Psychiatrists, a Psychologist, a CBT Therapist, an Alcohol Detox Nurse, Community Addiction Nurses / Social Workers , Hidden Harm Social Worker, Opiate Substitution Nurses, Substance Misuse Liaison Nurses within Altnagelvin and Grangewood. We work closely together to ensure patient centred care with individualised and holistic care plans to support an individual’s recovery goals. We use a broad range of psychological approaches to assist individuals in there recovery including cognitive behaviour therapy, motivational interviewing, social behaviour network approaches and pharmacology for mental health conditions, abstinence support and opiate substitution.

Instilling hope in recovery is central to what we do. Ensuring a safe and welcoming environment helps to foster trust and reduce the stigma often associated with addiction.
