This is a support group for Parents who have children who spend time in Altnagelvin Children’s wards. Parents who live locally and their children are medically monitored throughout their lives.
Hospital stays can be a stressful, lonely & difficult time for the patients and the parents. This group is a forum to share experiences and provide support.
Our aim, other than providing support to each other is to help reduce feelings of isolation, provide parents the opportunity to get to know each other, share experiences with other parents who may have a better understanding of what they are going through than parents of children who may not have medical needs. We hope throughout the year to plan events and activities designed to bring families together.

This Group is independent of, but operates in close partnership with the staff on wards 6 & 16. Funded solely through voluntary donations and fund raising activities and is organized and run by representatives of patients, staff, carers and relatives. We can pass all feedback, ideas and concerns to staff. Striving to build on and improve services for children and parents across the wards.
