The Western Health and Social Care Trust has reaffirmed its commitment to working collaboratively with local communities in Fermanagh and West Tyrone following a visit to the Oak Healthy Living Centre (HLC) in Lisnaskea. Senior Trust representatives met with community and voluntary sector partners to discuss opportunities for closer partnership working and how services can continue to support and improve outcomes for older people across the Erne East area.
During the visit, attendees heard about significant developments within the local community, including the new £32.4 million Lisnaskea Health and Care Centre currently under construction, alongside the Oak Healthy Living Centre’s plans for a new health and community hub. Discussions focused on how these developments can complement Trust services and help deliver more integrated, accessible care and support for local people.
Speaking during the visit, Dr Maura O’Neill, Director of Community and Older People Services for the Western Trust, said:
“I am delighted to be here in the Oak Healthy Living Centre in Lisnaskea, meeting with community and voluntary partners and discussing how we can work together to improve outcomes for older people across the Erne East area.Partnership working is vital in helping us understand local needs and build stronger, more connected services. We look forward to continuing these conversations and working together to promote better care and support for local communities.”
Representatives from the Oak Healthy Living Centre highlighted the important role community-based services play in supporting health and wellbeing, helping people stay connected, reduce isolation, improve physical and mental health, and access a wide range of local programmes and services.
Michael Mowan, Manager of the Oak Healthy Living Centre, said:
“There are two very positive developments in Lisnaskea. The first is the new Health and Care Centre currently under construction, alongside our own plans for a new health and community hub. It is important that we continue to work closely with the Western Trust so that together we can develop services that meet the needs of local people and deliver real benefits for our community.”
The visit also highlighted the importance of ongoing engagement with local people as the Trust works with communities, staff, service users and stakeholders to help shape the future of health and care services across the region through the Fermanagh and West Tyrone Health and Care Futures programme.
Dr Maura O’Neill added:
“The best outcomes are achieved when we listen to and work alongside the people and communities we serve. We encourage everyone to take the opportunity to get involved, share their views and help inform the development of a new Vision for Health and Care Future Services in Fermanagh and West Tyrone.”
