I believe most people in Northern Ireland have been greatly saddened at the trouble which has erupted in our province during the past few days, especially with all the pain, suffering and fear this has brought to many.
I would particularly note the anxiety and fear being felt by members of our Ethnically Diverse Communities, many of whom work in our health and social care service.
To all members of these communities, I would say:
- Please do not fear, we are very much with you. We are so thankful for the wonderful contribution that you make to our society, especially noting the amazing work that you carry out in health and social care; and noting many sacrifices you have made to live and work here.
- I trust that you will feel supported by all you meet, whether at work or as you travel back and forth in the community and in your homes.
- Please do speak to us if you have any concerns, whether in the hospital or amongst your families or in the wider community.
- Chaplains are available both to patients, families, volunteers and staff to offer spiritual / pastoral support and can be contacted through the hospital switchboards.
- There are rooms for prayer and reflection on all our acute sites for your personal use. We can arrange to meet you there if you would like any additional support.
- If you need assistance from any other faith groups, we can signpost you to where help can be found.
Please be assured this whole situation, and especially yourselves are very much in our thoughts and prayers.
