We were delighted to celebrate the official opening of Cedar Villa on the Gransha Hospital site last week.
The official opening of Cedar Villa marks the first year of this newly renovated facility by the Western Trust which accommodates four services including Scaffold Consultation & Therapy service for children in care, Insight Psychotherapy Service, Social Services training team and adult safeguarding.
Dr Maria Bradley, Acting Consultant Lead Clinical Psychologist, Head of Service for Scaffold Consultation & Therapy Service for Children in Care at the Western Trust said:

“We are delighted to welcome invited guests today to mark the official opening of Cedar Villa. Today is an important milestone and we are very grateful for the support from the Trust in helping us achieve our vision of creating specialist therapeutic spaces to meet the needs of young people in the Western Trust. The importance of trauma informed environments is outlined in the Northern Ireland Framework for Integrated Therapeutic Care for Care Experienced Children and we are delighted to fulfil this objective.”
“This is a very warm and welcoming environment which will help improve the lives of our service users who require therapeutic treatment and support.
Scaffold staff have been able to create bespoke, specialist therapy rooms for children in care which are unique to the Western Trust; this includes a large therapy space for sensory-based trauma therapy and specialist assessment and treatment.”
Speaking after touring the facility today Dr Tom Cassidy, Director of Family and Children’s Services at the Western Trust said:
“This is a remarkable facility for children and young people who require specialist therapy and treatment. I wish to thank all our staff who have worked incredibly hard to ensure this has been achieved in a cohesive and partnership basis which has been a true success – well done to everyone involved.”
