Starting CAMHS might feel a little scary at first, so here’s what usually happens:
- You’re referred (usually by your doctor, or MDT in the doctor’s surgery).
- We offer you an initial CHOICE assessment with you and a parent/carer to talk about the reason that have led to your referral to CAMHS?
- You’ll have a conversation and answer some questions with the CAMHS practitioner to assess your mental health.
- We’ll talk together about the next steps.
We’ll always explain what’s happening and give you and your parent/carer time to ask questions.
