Celebrating Social Work and Social Care staff

Staff from the Western Trust enjoyed success at the local regional colleges at a celebration event held recently.

The event recognised Social Care Workers and Social Workers from the Trust who have completed a number of training and development courses over the past number of months.

Congratulating staff on their achievements Tom Cassidy, Director of Women and Children’s Services and Executive Director of Social Work at the Western Trust said:

Their achievement reflects the continuous professional and personal commitment to learning to ensure they deliver outstanding social work practice across the Trust in a range of areas.”

“It is wonderful to hear of the positive feedback from the regional colleges including:-

  • Western Trust Staff At Celebration EventSocial Care Workers welcomed and embraced the opportunity to undertake accredited training which enhanced their practice.
  • Band 6 Social Workers welcomed the opportunity to avail of management/leadership training to support future career progression.
  • Trust staff who completed courses alongside other professionals found this very beneficial, it helped build relationships/professional networks, develop understanding of each other’s roles and enhanced learning.
  • The level 4 Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) course was particularly popular with both Social Workers and Social Care Workers. Staff were able to provide great examples of how learning has been applied to practice to achieve good outcomes for children and families.
  • All staff who completed the domestic violence course found it extremely beneficial. Staff particularly enjoyed the master classes and learning alongside other professionals.
  • Western Trust staff enjoyed delivering the master classes which were well received by both students and lecturers.
