We are delighted to officially open the beautiful new dementia garden at Greenfield Residential Home, Strabane.
We are committed to improving the living environments for residents and has invested in the development of an outdoor garden space specifically designed for residents in the dementia unit at the home. The garden has been completely transformed from a deserted and unusable area to a spacious, easily accessible, dementia friendly, welcoming space for all the residents in the home to enjoy.
Welcoming guests, residents and staff to the official opening of the new dementia garden at Greenfield Residential Home, Western Trust Chief Executive Mr Neil Guckian said:
“I am delighted to welcome everyone here this afternoon to cut the ribbon to officially open this new dementia garden. Greenfield Residential Home is an excellent example of the innovative developments for our residents with dementia where facilities are provided that help residents enjoy the benefits of being outdoors and enjoying the sense and sounds of this beautiful garden space.”
Jane White, Head of Care and Accommodation at the Western Trust expressed her heartfelt thanks to everyone who has contributed to making this garden from a dream to a reality. She said:
“A huge thank you to our contractor’s NICOR and Trust Estates staff who have been extremely busy over the past number of months to get this garden ready. We have had a few challenges, particularly with the unseasonably wet July, but we have pulled out all the stops to ensure that we have achieved an absolutely stunning outdoor space for our residents, staff and relatives.
“This outdoor area will allow staff to support our residents to engage in activities in a safe and user friendly space and enhance the lives of our residents through social integration and help improve their overall health and wellbeing. We hope it will continue to be an enjoyable, recreational and activity area for the benefit of all the residents in the home for many years to come.”
