Our Adult Mental Health and Disability Services along with the Carers Support Team hosted two lunch events for unpaid carers in the Omagh and Fermanagh areas over the Summer months.
The lunch events held at Manor House Hotel, Killadeas, Co Fermanagh and Silverbirch Hotel, Omagh were an opportunity for unpaid carers to enjoy a relaxing and delicious lunch and an opportunity to connect with other carers and take time out from their caring duties. The events were organised to acknowledge the invaluable work carers provide to the their loved ones every day.
Cathy Magowan, Carer Support Coordinator at the Western Trust promoted their new Carers Handbook and highlighted the important information/support the handbook provides. Cathy said:
“If you are looking after a family member or friend with an illness or a disability and you would like to register as an unpaid carer with the Western Trust, you can sign up online here or you can email: Carers.Support1@westerntrust.hscni.net or telephone (028) 66344217 to request a consent form.”
Yvonne Cairns, Recovery College Co-Ordinator attended and promoted their new Autumn Prospectus, which offers free courses to everyone in the community. The courses cover many aspects of mental health and emotional wellbeing.
