37th South West Acute Hospital Annual Cardiology Update

Annual Cardiology Conference, Killyhevlin

The 37th Annual Western Trust Cardiology Update in association with the Irish Cardiac Society, took place in Fermanagh recently.

The Cardiology conference, was coordinated by South West Acute Hospital based Consultant Cardiologist Professor Monica Monaghan and Faculty shared up to date Guidelines on a diverse range of topics including advances in coronary intervention and multimodality cardiovascular imaging.  The Meeting concentrated on 3 core topics; Pioneering techniques in cardiac care; Integrative approaches in cardiovascular and systemic diseases and fronteirs in cardiac imaging and patient centered care. The conference was opened by President of Irish Cardiac Society Professor Pascal McKeown who welcomed speakers and delegates from across the region.

The Meeting was delighted to welcome local speakers including Dr Jack Andrews, Interventional Cardiologist based in Altnagelvin hospital; Dr Eveline Lee, Multimodality Imaging Consultant Cardiologist based at the South West Acute Hospital.

The Update welcomed more than 120 delegates from all over Ireland from an array of disciplines including primary care, nursing, radiology, physiology and hospital medicine. The Annual Cardiology Update provides a vital platform for healthcare professionals to hear the most up-to-date evidence and to translate this to patient care.
