Getting to Altnagelvin Area Hospital

Altnagelvin Area Hospital is situated on the outskirts of Londonderry on the A6 Glenshane Road which is the main route from Londonderry to Belfast. The hospital site can accessed from the A514 Crescent Link Road.

Public Transport

Altnagelvin Hospital has a bus stop on the hospital grounds, which is serviced by the Foyle Street To Altnagelvin Service FY04 AND FY05. Other buses also stop at the bus stop on the main road outside the hospital.

Car Parking at Altnagelvin

There are a number of car parks on the site providing over 2200 spaces. There are currently 125 disabled parking spaces on the site to improve accessibility to our facilities.
The Altnagelvin site has 545 paid spaces which are located conveniently at the hospital entrances like outpatients, Emergency Department, southwing and northwest cancer centre. This leaves at 1600 free parking spaces throughout the site.
There are 10 pay machines located at the exits of each of the hospital buildings or in close proximity of the car park. You must pay before returning to your car if you are parked in a barrier car park. Pay and display has been introduced at the southwing main road, the pay and display ticket machines are located at the bottom of the steps that lead to the southwing building. Payment must be made before leaving the car parked in this area.

Concessionary Parking and Car Park Control Measures

Patients with specific acute conditions, who are required to attend the hospital on a regular basis shall, during their period of treatment be entitled to free parking on site. Free car parking will be issued to anyone who meets the eligibility criteria.
