Dr George McIlroy - Non-Executive Director

Dr McIlroy is a former Deputy Chief Veterinary Officer, DARD, with responsibility for Veterinary policy and Head of the FMD (foot and mouth) command centres in 2001. He was also Chief Scientific Officer and a Member of the DARD Departmental Board and chaired the Project Team to establish the new Institute, the Agri-Food and Biosciences Institute (AFBI) and became CEO of the organisation on its establishment. Dr McIlroy is currently a Board Member of the Northern Ireland Fishery Harbour Authority, a Trustee of the National Museums Northern Ireland and an Independent Member of the TB Strategic Partnership Advisory Board to the DARD Minister.

He also holds a number of voluntary positions as an elected Fellow of the Institute of Food Science and Technology; an elected Fellow of the Institute of Leadership and Management, a long-standing Volunteer for Tearfund Northern Ireland and is Business Development Manager of Come to Life Drama Ministries.
