What does the Addiction Service do?
The Western Trust provides specialist, Community-based Addiction and Substance misuse Treatment
Our Community Addiction Service provides a range of therapeutic interventions designed to support individuals struggling with substance (Alcohol and/or Drugs) use. Our service adopts a holistic and person centred approach, offering various treatment modalities to address the complex needs of clients and their families. Key offerings include therapeutic interventions, community detox which can include hostel/home, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, family support group (offered 3 times yearly – this can also be offered individually, Hidden Harm Social Work, Psychology, Pharmacology and Opioid Substitution Therapy.
Our services provide a holistic framework for recovery, fostering resilience, and promoting long term well-being and positive mental health.
Where are we based?
The WHSCT has 3 main sites in the within the trust catchment area – One based at the Tyrone and Fermanagh Hospital Site at the Asha Centre, one based in SWAH at Key Working Accommodation and the other base in Derry/Londonderry at Woodlea house Gransha Site
Who provides the service?
Our committed Team consists of various disciplines namely – Highly Specialised Mental Health Nurses and Social Workers, CBT Therapists, OST Specialist Therapists, Hidden Harm Social Workers as well as a Psychologist, medical staff and our Consultant Psychiatrists.
How to access the service
Routine Referrals to the Addiction Service can come from a number of sources, including: GPs; Western Trust Adult Mental Health Teams (for example, Primary Care Liaison Service/PCLS, Psychological Therapies, Crisis Service, Forensic Service, Eating Disorders Service, Personality Disorder Service); Social Services (Adult and Children), Probation, Prison, and agreed organisations within Tier 2 services.
